Chris Brown's Birthday Party= FUN

Saturday i went to a friends birthday party up in Georgetown. I was so excited about this party because it took place at his parents house, and i have wanted to meet his parents forever. I don't know why, but ever since i met Chris, i've had the feeling that his parents love him very much.
We had such a good time! His mom and dad were so nice. His mom made food for hours. Burger, veggie burger, hot dog, Burger, veggie burger, hot dog. Swaff ate six veggie burgers and at some point his mom made a joke that i had eaten eight hot dogs. Super fun day. Thank you Pat and Bill. Happy Birthday Doo Doo!

He loved his gift.

We took turns chopping wood with a hatchet.

And we fed the fish all night long.

And on the way home we saw the cutest stop sign in the world!

HOUSE WARMING GIFT TO RATON

vs. prehistoric shark

This year it may just be this prehistoric shark.

Flaring the gills that give the species its name, a frilled shark swims at Japan's Awashima Marine Park on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Sightings of living frilled sharks are rare, because the fish generally remain thousands of feet beneath the water's surface.

Spotted by a fisher on January 21, this 5.3-foot (160-centimeter) shark was transferred to the marine park, where it was placed in a seawater pool.

"We think it may have come to the surface because it was sick, or else it was weakened because it was in shallow waters," a park official told the Reuters news service. But the truth may never be known, since the "living fossil" died hours after it was caught.

Colossal squid

And so, anyone who knows me, knows how obsessed i was last year with the colossal squid.

February 22, 2007—In Antarctica's Ross Sea, a fishing boat has caught what is likely the world's biggest known colossal squid (yes, that's the species' name), New Zealand officials announced today.

Heavier than even giant squid, colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) have eyes as wide as dinner plates and sharp hooks on some of their suckers. The new specimen weighs in at an estimated 990 pounds (450 kilograms).

The sea monster had become entangled while feeding on Patagonian toothfish (toothfish photos) caught on long lines of hooks. The crew then maneuvered the squid into a net and painstakingly hauled it aboard—a two-hour process.

The animal was frozen and placed in a massive freezer below decks. Now in New Zealand, the carcass awaits scientific analysis.

"Even basic questions such as how large does this species grow to and how long does it live for are not yet known," said New Zealand Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton in a statement.

The deep-sea species was first discovered in 1925, though the only evidence was two tentacles found in a sperm whale's stomach. Since then there have been only a scattering of sightings, including a colossal squid caught in 2003 in the same region as the recent find.

The new specimen is likely the first intact male ever recovered, Anderton said.

Squid expert Steve O'Shea told local press, "I can assure you that this is going to draw phenomenal interest."

For one thing, added the Auckland University of Technology professor, the squid would yield calamari rings the size of tractor tires.

EASTER SUNDAY AT THE CORCORAN FACTORY

It all started with food.

And quickly moved to huevos.
(note: the two tier table lamp, so kindly given to me from a friend who knew my love for lamps. I wish you could see the detail better on the glass)

OWEL eggs

DECOY eggs.

Back of egg. CORAZON.

These were the eggs made by RELAX and UNJUANTED.

...If i were you I'd go buy a few easter egg dying kits tomorrow. They are on sale everywhere now for 99 cents or cheaper. Pick up a few. I think you'll find dying eggs to be fun throughout the whole year, instead of just a seasonal event. Good for children, dates, breakfast making for a loved one, or a thank you breakfast basket with each egg haveing THANK YOU on them and OJ/ muffins (if you use a white crayon and draw of write on the egg the dye cannot color the wax of the crayon, so your love message will appear), baby sitting project...and so, if i were you...

11:52am on the 7th he was born

INTRODUCING: Aiyden Addison Rivers- SUPERSTAR

One of my closest friends just had a baby boy. She shared with me a little peek into what becoming a mother was like for her, and i thought i would share some of it with you.

" he was 4 weeks early! it's not the greatest birth story but the outcome was worth it! i was getting really sick. i had preeclampsia which is high blood pressure and liver malfunction (and the worst swelling you've ever seen! i gained 20 pounds in 8 days!)and went into the hospital for strict bedrest on the 4th. on the 5th they decided to start inducing me cause i had developed eclampsia which is the same thing only add seizures, liver failure, and a drop in blood platelettes to the mix. the only way to treat it is to give birth so, it was pretty shitty. there were a lot of procedures i won't go into too much, lots of IV's which is scary cause you aren't even supposed to have cough syrup when your pregnant so it's weird that they can pump you full of drugs. the worst was magnesium, it counter acts seizures and it makes you really hot and throw up and it slows your system which counter acts the pitocin which is supposed to induce the labor. anyhow, riv stayed with me the whole time. my mom got the first flight out and was here by thursday morning. they were awesome cuase i know i was being a bitch and i was so incoherent i don't remember half of it.
after 24 hours of labor i had only dilated to 5cm so they decided to do a c-section because both of our vitals were dropping and at 11:52am on the 7th he was born. it was the most horrible, beautiful, and important thing i have ever experienced. he was 4lbs 11oz, so tiny but he was completely healthy and is up to 5lbs 5oz now. i can't explain it. i was so afraid i wouldn't like him or something but he is so awesome. he has riv's nose and my mouth and he knew who i was immediately and i love him to death. "

Blackie and Snort get some gifts from uncle Doo Doo

Yesterday my friend Doo Doo inherited a fully loaded 25 gallon fish tank. So we spent the majority of the day moving, setting up and buying fish. With a small break in there to eat at IHOP. By pure chance, Doo Doo went to the same store that Snort came from. And so, he too bought an apple snail. We haven't done a full genealogical chart yet, but we're pretty sure Doo Doo's snail is Snorkel's cousin's baby's ma'ma.

Doo Doo's tank actually came with so much equipment that Blackie and Snorkel got some gifts too. A new plant and a little air filter-

slash bubble maker.

INTRODUCING-Eric Burdon CRUSH

On wed i did a live drawing for PANIC_TV at The Red Derby. my drawing was based off of one of my newest favorite crushes, Eric Burdon. He was a founding member and vocalist of the Animals, a band originally formed in Newcastle in the early 1960s. The Animals were one of the leading bands of the "British Invasion". He is claimed by some to be the 'Eggman' from The Beatles song "I Am The Walrus". The reason for this is that Burdon was known as 'Eggs' to his friends, originating from instances with him and breaking eggs over girls. Burdon's biography mentions such an affair taking place in the presence of John Lennon, who shouted "Go on, go get it, Eggman ..." And my Dad loves them too...
This was my drawing-

enjoy and RELAX...

Art show and potluck

Art show and potluck to benefit Student Farm Worker Alliance.

Drums, art, dancing, friends and food.

The Belmont house Saturday, March 29th 5-10 pm (1830belmont.com)

Corporate farms growing tomatoes for Burger King keep getting in trouble for slave labor. Even the "legit" farms practice a type of modern day slavery: to make the minimum wage farmers must pick 2 tons of tomatoes a day.

Students and farmers stood together and McDonalds and Taco Bell backed down. They now pay tomato farmers a livable wage. Burger King does not.

Come fight corporate greed and stand in solidarity with farm workers in their fight for dignity and a livable wage.

I'm still working on my piece.

OWEL also made an awesome canvas. stencil and spray paint.

The Corcoran Factory welcomes a new member to the family.

When taken care of properly, the Apple Snail can grow up to 6 inches in diameter. Apple snails are in fact the biggest living freshwater snails on earth. The Apple Snail has a unique respiration system, complete with the gills of a fish (at the right side of the snail body) and a lung (at the left side of the body). And in spite the fact that many snail species are hermaphrodite (being male and female at the same time) apple snails are definitely not: they have separated sexes (gonochoristic) and a male and a female are needed for reproduction.

Sadly though, Apple Snails do not mate for life.

When DEBT came over the other other day he had done this really great piece. He thought it was a bit too distasteful, so he threw it away. I on the other hand loved it and found it in the trash while i was cleaning. I put it in a frame that had held a picture of Andy Warhol (i thought warhol would have appreciated it too).

When I went to rehang the picture where it previously hung, it all of a sudden seemed both perfect and even more inappropriate.
