Tape sculpture class! This Sunday, don't miss it!

Are you familiar with the packing tape sculptures by Mark Jenkins? If not, this is your chance to learn everything about them. If you are Mark’s fan, you already know that right now he is working with CON on a huge surprise show in The Fridge.

And this weekend, you will get a chance to work with Sandra Fernandez who will teach you how to create your own tape cast of any object or your body. Bring a small object (a vase for example) to to create a cast of. Sandra is an artist living in the greater DC area. She has worked with Mark for many years and is one of the few masters of this technique in the world.

The tape sculpture workshop is on Sunday, April 4, 2010 in The Fridge, 516 8th Street SE (rear alley), Washington, DC. It is in walking distance from Eastern Market Metro Station. Bring your friends. Suitable for all ages. Suggested donation $30 (sliding scale). Duration 2 hours. The workshop will be mostly indoors. Al supplies provided. Working clothes covering full body is recommended.

Gaia on DC's open wall!

My Sat night this past weekend consisted of magic classes and watching Gaia paint on Albus Cavus's new open wall on Sherman and Barry. This is EXACTLY why open walls should exist. This summer, no one has a reason to not PAINT!

Albus Cavus Classrooms ROCK!

After being pushed back one week due to rain, last Sundays first class of Small Walls, Big Imaginations! took place. I could not have been happier with the turn out of kids and artists ready to paint! Check out CON's first Small Wall, Big Imagination wall!

Come out and paint this Sunday, 2-4 at the Fridge!

Bookish Lady

Moira McCauley is one of my favorite artist in DC. I have always had a love with paper. And am always impressed with the quality and love that goes into her work. Listen to her speak here about her latest project.

Nina and I

This is my friend Nina. We met because her dad is a DJ and photographer at the Fridge. She's been coming to the classrooms at the Fridge on Sundays. She's already my wheat pasting buddy, but last week finished her first canvas with spray paint.
Come out and paint this Sunday with CON and CRI and help create a new mural for the Fridge!
