GIFTS for MA DEEKS

My friend David London always has new inventions. His latest is called 'What on a Stick'. This was the what on a stick he had given me. There are all these rules to the game, but i decided to live with it wrapped for a little while and save the secret for a later date.

Today I opened it! I was so scared. You have no idea with David- what it could be...

It took me a minute to take it all in. It's a doll with a long leather neck and apple head. The arms are fingers and the legs are crab claws. He is wearing black and white saddle shoes which i'm a huge fan of and wore for years to school.

After full inspection...I LOVE IT!

PLUS THIS WEEK
I got a super special love package from my mom full of fun tights, leg warmers, a target gift card and- my mom also had gotten these super cute pink DECOY stickers made for me to put on my bike and helmut.

THANK YOU MOM!

RELAX

This is my best friends favorite song. This is not like any other song she likes, but I love it too and so here it is...

Anna U Davis and DECOY at the opening reception for Anna's show. If you haven't see it yet, I highly recommend going. One of the most interesting show's I've seen in a long time.

Ana, UNJUANTED and DECOY

Dana Ellyn, DECOY and Lisa Marie Thalhammer. It was a really great opening and I got a chance to speak with a lot of other artist friends. Look at Lisa Marie in her DECOY shirt, super cute.

AWESOME GIFTS

This goes down as one of the best gifts EVER given to me!

Cherry Box Studios

Thank You JDC

Anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE markers. Tonight JDC made my night by letting me have the biggest marker I've ever seen. I'll bring it back for a refill, I promise.

Markwell® Marker X-LARGE. I'll have to try it out...but for now I'm just impressed with the size!

Sweet.

Christo and Jean Claude

I have been a fan of Christo and Jean Claude's work for a long while now. In 2005, I took the bus up from Chinatown DC to Chinatown NY when The Gates were up. Really special trip.

So I was really excited to find this picture and note in our hallway while staying at the Chelsea.

it reads...
Dear Chelsea Hotel,
In 1964 a Paris gallerist told us that when we were going to go to NYC she said artists always stay at the Chelsea Hotel. We came for an exhibition at Leo Castelli Gallery and needed to construct the storefront piece for the show in our room, as we had no money to rent a studio. Since we were from France, we weren't sure if this was allowed so Christo would use his hand saw late at night. One of the storefronts needed a doorknob and we loved the one on our bathroom door, so we exchanged that one for one from the local hardware store. The piece is now in the collection of the Hirshorn Museum in DC.

Christo and Jean Claude, Artists

I just thought this was so fun. I've seen the storefront they speak of at the Hirshorn here in DC. It's actually rarely out on view.

Drawings from NYC

Thank you Taxi Gang for all the pics. It was a super fun trip to New York. Here are some drawings...

Of course the Chelsea Hotel has INTERVIEW Magazine as their coffee table reading. Here's one of my drawings of Lily.

Sistine Chapel on the mind.

Above the girl it reads, CALL YOUR MOM love D.

I finished making my poster in the kitchen of our room at the Chelsea.

Taxi Gang knows that if i don't have something to draw on I may go crazy...so he always seems to provide me with the most fun projects while on the road. This time it was plastic glass magnets and neon hats. This is suppose to pay homage to Keith Haring and his famous CRACK IS WACK

Pinki Swear

Lately I have been flooded with symbols that seem to pop up and remind me of certain people and places. These signs have provided me with this feeling that everything will be okay. I found this stencil on my most resent trip to New York. I love when street art seems like it was put there just for you!

O’Neill Studios 4th Annual Salon Party and Show

Dana Ellyn will be painting live at this event. That should be fun to watch. Make sure you RSVP.
