MURALS TO ZORA
Andy Shallal is inviting local artists to paint murals in his new restaurant, Eatonville. The mission of this event is to bring diverse local talent together to create art. Almost, the entire restaurant is serving as a blank canvas! All local artists are welcomed to paint a mural in commemoration to Zora Neale Hurston and her hometown of Eatonville. The restaurant is inspired by Eatonville, the first all-black town to incorporate in America and the childhood home of Zora Neale Hurston, the most famous female writer of the Harlem Renaissance.
The mural event will begin Wednesday Feb. 25th-26th from 4pm-11pm. On Saturday Feb. 28th, there will be an Opening Party for the Murals (art, music, and lots of fun) to be seen by press and public. During this time participating artists are welcome to have their own artwork on display. On Sunday Feb. 29th 10am-4pm the space will be open to the public to view the murals. These murals will be the back drop for the opening restaurant but it is not guaranteed that every mural will be up permanently.

I went and visited the space. The whole place is a blank canvas! I know Andy myself. He has always been a great supporter of local art. His restaurant Luna was actually the first place to ever show DECOY work in DC. START THINKING ZORA!
Giving thanks.
