foreign accent syndrome

If waking up one day and all of a sudden your voice has changed and now you sound like you're from Australia, sounds like your worst nightmare...then listen to this. It can happen. It's called foreign accent syndrome.

Inspirations form my youth

I should have been a nun.

Berta Hummel was a famous German artist (May 21, 1909 - November 6, 1946). She was also known as nun Maria Innocentia Hummel. She is most famous for the artwork which became the Hummel figurines.

Born in Massing, Bavaria, she attended the Academy of Applied Arts in Munich in 1927 and entered the Franciscan Convent of Siessen in Bad Saulgau after she graduated in 1931. She spent her spare time painting pictures of children, which were made into quite popular postcards.

Soon afterward, Franz Goebel, the owner of a porcelain company, saw the artwork. The convent granted him permission to make figurines based on Hummel's art. The first collection came out in 1935 and was an instant hit.
Hummel died at age 37 from tuberculosis. She was buried in the convent cemetery. Goebel, his team of artists, and the other nuns carried on her legacy through the figurines, all of which are based on her artwork.

My mother is a HUGE hummel fan.

Look how cute this set is.
You can buy it here, mom.

Waecthersbach= HOME. YOU ARE SPECIAL TODAY

Growing up my mother had a few dishes from Waecthersbach that were red with a white heart pattern on them. I have always loved this pattern/ plates. Over the years I have collected a few Waecthersbach pieces myself. When I found this 'YOU ARE SPECIAL TODAY' plate at the new Marshals in DC for 9.99, I couldn't pass it up.

The time-honored tradition of the "You Are Special Today" Red Plate, returns to remind us that a simple reward can mean so much. The Red Plate is the perfect way to acknowledge a family member’s special triumphs…celebrate a birthday… praise a job well done… reward a goal achieved…or simply say, “You Are Special Today”! The Red Plate…make it a tradition in your family.

Super Cute!

Waechtersbach ceramics receive their unique brilliance and color from the special glazes used by Waecthersbach technicians. Decades of experience are combined with craftsmanship and modern production technology to achieve the unique and charming surface textures.

The high degree of craftsmanship is evidenced by the color achievements displayed in Waechtersbach colors Kiwi, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel and many more. The brilliant colors and finishes achieved by our glazes will provide a measure of Dinnerware Art in the home.
